Sustainable Tourism
On the three private Bahama Islands that I managed from 2001-2023. I implemented the following sustainable operations.
Although the separation of waste is a tedious task, these basic principles are easily put in place & if strictly adheared will minimize our human impact & keep the Islands maintained & beautified for years to come.

I FEEL THAT THESE SIMPLE SUSTAINABLE PRINCIPLES CAN EASILY
BE ADOPTED BY ALL OF THE PRIVATE ISLANDS, LARGE SCALE
DEVELOPEMENTS & TOWNSHIPS IN THE ISLANDS OF THE BAHAMAS.

More about this...
• Reverse osmosis systems, turning ocean water into potable water.

• Rain water catchment cisterns.

• Benches made out of native Bahamian wood placed around the island in various locations.

• Double walled, above ground fuel storage, were contained in leak proof cofferdams, as a prevention measure to contain any possible drip or leak.

• Plant beatification &edible veggie gardens, using organic fertilizers from, goats, horses & chickens.

• Casurina trees & Sea lettuce (scavola) being the number 1 & 2 items on our
evasive plant species list, were erradicated &replaced by sea oats, to hold the dune sand in place (above the high water mark) also coconut trees, providing natural tires, batteries, white waste, mechanical parts, wire, PVC, ceramics, metal, paint cans, etc...shipped into New Providence to be properly sorted at the Municiple garbage Waste Plant.

• Aluminum can densifiers, to compact & bail cans (the proceeds earned were given
to support the Childrens Orphanage in New providence).
